Home Hemorrhoid Remedies

In the anus and rectum, haemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen veins. Symptoms that are normal can include discomfort, itching, and rectal bleeding. They can grow within or outside the anus and rectum, respectively, called internal and external hemorrhoids. An incredibly common issue is hemorrhoids.

Aloe Vera

Historically, aloe vera gel has been used to treat hemorrhoids and diverse skin disorders. It is suspected that it has anti-inflammatory effects, which may help alleviate discomfort. The National Center for Complimentary and Integrated Health lists it as likely to be very safe for topical use, although there is insufficient clinical data on the efficacy of aloe vera gel for hemorrhoids. The gel can be used in other products as an ingredient, but for hemorrhoids, you can only use pure aloe vera gel. You can also extract pure aloe vera gel directly from within the leaves of an aloe plant.

Warm Bath

Warm baths can help to soothe hemorrhoid inflammation. You may use a seat bath or take a full-body bath in your tub, which is a small plastic tub that fits over a toilet seat. It is most beneficial to take a warm bath for 20 minutes after each bowel movement. By minimizing discomfort, adding Epsom salts to the bath will provide more relief.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel, two of the key signs of hemorrhoids, can alleviate both itching and pain. It's a natural anti-inflammatory medication, so it might minimize swelling as well. Witch hazel can be bought in liquid form and applied to the hemorrhoids directly. Items such as anti-itch wipes and soaps can also be found in it.

Wipes Soothing

Using toilet paper may aggravate existing hemorrhoids after a bowel movement. Without causing more discomfort, wipes will help keep you clean. Wipes with calming, anti-hemorrhoid ingredients, such as witch hazel or aloe vera, can be found for an added boost.

Cold compresses

In order to alleviate swelling for 15 minutes at a time, apply ice packs or cold compresses to the anus. This can be an incredibly efficient therapy for big, painful hemorrhoids. Often wrap ice in a cloth or paper towel and never directly apply anything that is frozen to the skin.

Softeners for stools

Stool softeners or supplements of fiber, such as psyllium, can help minimize constipation, make stools smoother, and make it easier for bowel movements to be fast and painless. Many of these stool softeners come in ways that you take by mouth between one and three times a day, including powders, tablets, and liquids.

Hemorrhoids Preventing

The best way of avoiding hemorrhoids is by lifestyle and dietary changes. It helps to keep your bowel movements regular by keeping physically active and eating well. To keep the digestive process going properly and avoid constipation, consume plenty of high-fiber foods and drink plenty of water. Regular exercise can also help reduce hemorrhoids and avoid sitting for long periods of time. When you first get the urge, the most productive way to prevent constipation is to go to the toilet. Delaying bowel movement enables water from the stool to be reabsorbed by the bowel. This makes it harder for the stool when you eventually go.

When to see the doctor

Typically, hemorrhoids are easy to treat and clear up on their own. A hemorrhoid might cause complications in very rare cases. Anemia, which is a shortage of red blood cells, could result from chronic blood loss from a hemorrhoid. Their blood flow may also be cut off by internal hemorrhoids, resulting in strangulated hemorrhoids, which can cause severe pain. If home treatments haven’t been effective after more than two weeks, make an appointment to see your doctor. Your primary care doctor will treat and diagnose hemorrhoids.
